Design and Manufacture of Iris Excited First Iteration Fractal Slot Antenna in Waveguide Broadwall

Abstract


A novel design of iris excited first iteration fractal slot radiator in waveguide broadwall is reported and verified with developed prototype at X-band. Design equation is computed from the iris excited slot model with a modification of conventional Stevenson’s equation for shunt slot. Empirical solution of design equation has been verified by a first order model and same has been manufactured by developed prototype. Measured conductance in dembedded plane at design frequency of 10GHz is closely complied with simulated dominant mode conductance data and results obtained from curve fitted normalized design expression.
